Yacht Surveyors - Blue Ensign - Hampshire, UK, Spain

Registration Services

We are able to carry out first registration of new vessels. We are also able to re-register used vessels.

We are able to assist with change of flag, and the changes from one registry to another.

We are able to provide provisional registration, demise registration, and new build registration where the yacht is registered from laying of the keel.

We are sole agents for the European Economic Area for the prestigious Cook Islands Yacht Registry, and also act as their sole EU / EEA yacht Surveyors.

Clients may keep their existing flag, and have a demise registry for commercial purposes, which can have significant tax advantages.

Yachts can be registered as tax efficient "Commercial Yacht" from the beginning of the charter code process, and not at the very end, which is usually the case with other yacht registries.

We are able to carry out tonnage measurement surveys, and hold many of the essential government forms on file in paper and electronic formats. We are able to make registered name changes and owner changes.

The Cook Islands Registry can issue ITC and LLC, Crew endorsements, LY2 Safety Certification, and MARPOL documents, as well as arrange IMO registration numbers where required..

We are also able to fast track Ships' Radio Licences and issue of MMSI numbers for Cook Islands’ vessels..

Red ensign registration and MCA compliance usually takes several months. Under the Cook Islands scheme we can arrange registration and safety compliance very quickly, enabling the vessel to be moved quickly to a port of choice.

At last, the Cook Islands Yacht Squadron legal formation has been completed, and is a wholly owned division of the Ships Registry, aimed at yachts over 20 metres. Membership is open to all yachts that are well maintained and operated, both pleasure and commercially registered, that wish to register in the Cook Islands This is a new initiative, designed to make registration and ownership easier and less formal, but with the same security and safeguards of the Shipping Registry. Benefits include the right to fly the blue ensign and CIYS club pennant, a simplified paper route on application. Members are entitled to use the club name or CIYS initials in lieu of Avarua as Port of Registry, if they wish. There is no social committment, and the annual fees are a nominal $150 each year. Membership of CIYS avoids the need for a corporate entity in the Cook Islands, as CIYS fulfils this role, thereby saving set up and annual costs. We know of no other registry that offers this facility, which is fully supported by the Cook Island Government and registration authority, Maritime Cook Islands Ltd.
